IRTS Members Update 14 Oct 2021
Dear Member.
As part of our communications to keep you informed on a number of topics discussed at the recent IRTS Committee meeting held Sat 9th Oct and how you can help support your society, we want to draw your attention to a number of points below.
SWOT Analysis
In response to the very elaborate recent SWOT (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats) analysis, it was agreed to initiate a new working group to explore initiatives that we can take as a society to promote the hobby to both young and old. We are thereby calling anyone that has an interest in participating in this working group to contact the Secretary, acknowledging your interest by Friday 12th Nov.
It is envisaged that the great work being done by individual clubs around the country, as well as JOTA/JOTI and other STEM activities can be harnessed into an overall Promotion of Amateur Radio strategy for the Society.
Club Reps
We would also like to remind IRTS affiliated clubs around the country of the opportunity to send a Club Representative to IRTS Committee Meetings, so that the interests and views of the members can be heard and translated into future policies and strategies.
Volunteer Pool
The IRTS would also welcome expressions of interest from IRTS members to get involved in the running of the Society at any level, so that the IRTS can develop a pool of available volunteers to call upon, when and as roles open up. A list of officers can be found on the website, and if you feel you have the skills to make a valuable contribution in any particular area or role, we encourage you to contact us. These roles are open to all members, SWLs and Licensed members alike. We thank those that have already offered their services over the recent weeks. Your names are on our list.
New Licensee's
With a wave of newly licensed Radio Amateurs having just received their callsigns, we encourage you to reach out and get involved with your local clubs. The clubs around the country are the lifeblood of the Society and the hobby, and active participation in clubs, is a great opportunity to get valuable experience, learn new skills in the hobby and most of all meet local Radio Amateurs. A list of IRTS affiliated clubs are available on the IRTS Website
Website
We have recently made some updates to the website to add announcements to the Homepage, including a date for the next IRTS Committee meeting and links to Attitudes and engagement survey results, IRTS Child Protection Policy, IRTS Solar PV Survey and IRTS Constitution Review

Committee Updates
Michael Fitzgerald EI9GGB has decided to step down from the Committee and hence at the last Committee meeting the following co-options were made for the remainder of the current term.
Roger Greengrass EI8KN - currently VHF / Microwave Manager - Co-opted to Committee
Owen O'Reilly EI4GGB - Webmaster - Co-opted to Committee
We now have the full complement of 13 Committee members.

For any further comments of queries, please contact the Secretary at secretary@irts.ie

Regards,
IRTS Secretary
