N5VLZ:

GE All, and welcome to the March 23 2026 PCL Net.
No early checkins.

Net order is Daryl, Bob (NY), Carl, Charley, Eric,
and whoever else shows up.

Our next net holiday is 2 weeks from tonight, Monday,
April 6 for Easter week. The PCL will take that night
off. I'll get the Easter goodies that day, as they'll
be 90% off (hi hi).

With starting on Route 66 on life's road yesterday,
H.A.M. for Haven't Any Memory has kicked in. I think
I forgot to upload the net scribe last week, but I
will take care of that after my next net this evening.

The Happy Birthday Weekend was almost an Unhappy Barfday.
No nausea, but a 2 day migraine sinus headache, likely
from tree pollen near 3000, plus high fire danger and
burn bans. It doesn't look like we'll get decent rain
until April. Little Rock had its earliest 90 degree day
on record, with 92 yesterday.

But, Route 66 on life's road has turned into The Yellow
Brick Road, with all the pollen out there. The car washes
are doing a land office business right now. I thought of
Carl, when I saw a car wash meme with "Antennas removed
at no charge", along with a flock of birds waiting to
"bomb the car" upon exit (hi hi).

Some unexpected medical bills nearly caused me to go
overdrawn (even though I still have checks (hi hi)),
but I was able to get a 1 time extension in the water
and trash bill, which I can pay on April 1. I got a
bill from the urologist, but I don't see her again
until July, and the clinic was closed on that day. I
saw I had paid the previous bill...not sure if it was
an error or not.

I'll start work on fixing the moisture in the crawl
space under the house, in April, with a down payment
to the Terminix folks. Be ready for April Fools Jokes
coming up...including going back to the old ways of
license exams and CW (hi hi). I feel much better today
than this weekend, so I'm not sure if CW stands for
Continuous Wave (I saw that at a football game),
Chicken Wings (I prefer the nuggets), or Continuous
Whoopee (hi hi). My pre-birthday splurge was thanks
to a $100 Papa John's Pizza Gift Certificate, from
doing an interview with my HMO. My scales complained
vociferously...I'm preparing for the upcoming winter
hibernation (hi hi).

GE Bob (NY), how was your week?? >>>

**

NS2B:

GE All!

Another uneventful week. Been trying to get out on the
HF port of the node to checkin with some friends in the
midwest but it seems propogation over the past week has
been abysmal.

Still tinkering with Meshtastic. It's really nothing more
than an amusement at the moment.

Finished Hamword in 3 guesses today.

April Fools Day - I have a dentist appointment that day -
I hope the doc doesn't think he's funny!

That's all for me, BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob, pity the dentist...he's always looking down in the
mouth (hi hi). As for HF being washed out, several noted
that on a net I ran yesterday. I spent much of today
catching up on computer work.

GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

GE All. It has been pretty hot here lately, but I still
managed to get out to a local park for a picnic today.
I found a decent spot in the shade and it was tolerable.

As for car washes, as Daryl mentioned I can indeed testify
to the antenna removal at no extra cost. I remember that
day every time I open my trunk, and see the cable patch that
I covered in yellow electrical tape (the only color I could
find in my junk box).

I did remember to start HAMWORD this morning, but I am pretty
sure I won't get it in 3 like Bob.

As to other radio stuff, I am looking forward to my Skywarn
training coming up in April, and otherwise just have my local
2m nets and packet as regular events.

I did get my Radioddity vertical. It looks pretty good. I need
to set it up in the backyard and check SWR, then pack it up to
somewhere local for a test.

I guess that's about it for this round. Back to net >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Carl, at least it wasn't like a storm chaser video, where lightning
struck the cars radio antenna, and it set the radio on fire. Summer
will be here soon...I never got started with HamWord, but I need to
renew my Skywarn certification online.

GE Charley, how was your week?? >>>

**

NT5R:

ge everyone

on the road again, this time South Carolina

Friend who had brain surgery and restricted no driving, his wife had
reserved condo and they use it or lose it

So doing driving for them. He and wife both very limited mobility
problems, so trying to help as much as possible

Daryl like your dentist joke, will pass that on

Bob, Carl and I both on Meshtastic. Interesting mode at 900 MHz --
good range line of sight. Strictly data and slow speed ISM band of
900 MHz so can run license free and enable encryption with low power.
Many non-hams using Mesh that way. Point to point couple miles direct
or connect to web via MQTT kinka like packet wormhole

Can use Ham mode and run more power but encryption must be turned off.

Anyhow Branson area getting network set up, can hop between nodes without
going online. We have one fellow Clayton Watson KB0WZI many good videos
on Youtube

You all keep mentioning Hamwork, may surprise you sometime and try it

WANTED to bring HF mobile on trip but with 4 of us, 2 wheelchairs and all,
just not room. Maybe can find some local 2 meter Winlink

btu Daryl>>>

N5VLZ:

Charley, first, kudos to you helping your friends. I don't drive anymore
due to dry corneas, causing blurred vision without warning. I'll use that
dentist's joke on the puns net later this evening. I think you meant HamWord.
Too much in life (sigh!).

That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.

Bob, thanks for the use of the BBS...anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Charlie; thanks for the youtube video pointer - i'll check him out

that's it for me Daryl - everyone have a good week - 73 >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Take care, Bob, see you next week.

Carl, anything else?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

I will charge up the meshtastic node and check a bit further. Problem is
that I see a few stations locally, but no real activity here.

That's it for this week. 73s to all. Back to net >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Have a good week, Carl...see you next time.

Charley, you are the world traveler. :) Anything else?? >>>

**

NT5R:

Daryl, belated Happy Birthday to you. Will try to be on time next year.

Re Mesh the idea is completely off-grid messaging and in limited area;
works well when you have several nodes seeing each other. Nodes can be
set up in various configurations.

Everyone have an awesome week and try to type at you next Monday 73>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Charley, that reminds me of 2 dachshund birthday cards. One says "Have
A Happy Birthday...or I'll pee behind the sofa!!". Another one says "Go
ahead. Squirt me with mustard. I forgot your birthday". I'm happy to
still be on this side of the grass. Interesting on the meshtastic deal.

GE Eric, we were about to close the net, but you made it...how was your
week?? >>>

**

WG3K:

Whew, this week (and last) has had me on my toes! I think I've walked in
the house every night about 2 minutes after a net I was planning on
attending had started.

Tonight, I have no excuse. I was just sititng here on 60m CW chatting a
bit when I noted the time. Ugh!

Not a lot going on here except for chasing the kids around. Tis the season
for them to have all kinds of activities going on.

We'll see if I get any time to do something for myself, one day.

That's all I have. 73 k >>>

Eric, just get in when you can. We will not be here 2 weeks from tonight,
April 6, due to Easter Week...so it gives all of us a break. Thanks for
stopping by.

Charley, go ahead >>>

**

NT5R:

Hey Eric, Bob re Clayton Watson kb0wzi, hashtag @disastercommunications on
Youtube, Facebook, Instagram 73>>>

**

NS2B:

Thanks charley >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Eric, any followup for Charley on that?? >>>

**

WG3K:

ACK >>>

OK, looks like that will do it. I'll see if I posted the log for last week,
if not, I'll post it and tonight's log shortly.

Have a good week, 73 and GN DE N5VLZ >>>
