Large-scale pattern is expected to remain unfavorable for
moist-deep convection through the day1 period. Most of the United
States will be dominated by air masses characterized by low PW and
negligible instability. While several notable short-wave troughs
will progress across the country, thunderstorms are not forecast
within a minimal-buoyancy environment.

...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... A few thunderstorms are possible along the Pacific
Northwest coast through Tuesday evening.
...Synopsis... A weak cold front will move across the Southeast
and into the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. A dearth of boundary
layer moisture will preclude much in the way of precipitation
or thunderstorm chances with this system. Strong surface high
pressure will build behind the front across much of the U.S. east
of the Rockies, resulting in continued dry conditions. Across
the western states, a shortwave mid/upper trough will move inland
across WA/OR/CA by the end of the period. As this occurs, a surface
low will strengthen as it tracks eastward across southern BC and
a cold front will track southeast across western WA/OR during the
evening/overnight. Ahead of the surface cold front, moist onshore
flow and steepening midlevel lapse rates could support isolated
convection deep enough to produce a few lightning strokes near
coastal WA/OR through early evening. Severe storms are not expected.

...SUMMARY... Thunderstorms are not expected on Wednesday.
...Synopsis... An amplified pattern will emerge over the CONUS
on Wednesday as a large-scale mid/upper trough intensifies over
the western half of the country and an upper ridge builds over the
eastern U.S. Strong surface high pressure will persist east of the
MS River, maintaining dry and stable conditions.
To the west, a shortwave trough will track east across the Canadian
Prairies while an embedded shortwave trough within the developing
larger-scale western trough pivots toward the central/southern
Rockies. The surface reflection of these two mid/upper level
features will be a low tracking across the northern Plains, with
a trough extending southwestward into the central/southern High
Plains. Strengthening low level southerly flow will develop in
response to the increasing surface pressure gradient over the MS
Valley, and Gulf moisture will begin returning northward across
TX late in the period. A few showers are possible across eastern
TX early Thursday morning, but instability will remain negligible
and thunderstorms are not expected.
