Rather than explain how to do it correctly it was easier to say just don't
do it. So they said don't do it.

If you want to read how to do it correctly I have published antenna guru
Kent Britain (WA5VJB) paper on the subject with permission here:
http://www.kk0sd.net/metalboom/metalboom.htm

If you would like to see pictures of how I followed his instructions you can
seen the pictures near the bottom of the page here:

I thought the manual for the M2 antenna specifically warned about this.
That the feed line should droop off the back?? Last time I monkeyed up with
antennas, I even made this change.? Not sure if this made a difference,
though, as I had another issue that turned out to be my real problem.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. Much appreciated. I?m going to assemble
something with a switch and will incorporate a few of the ideas shared. When
it?s done I?ll share it here. Thanks again!

Hi All,

Learning about a well-established parametric Lindenblad design, adding on
to it a bit, along with manufacturing and building (and using!) this version
of a Lindenblad antenna was really a joy over the last couple months. I
believe other satellite enthusiasts might enjoy building it too, but
possibly the 3D printing is not a keen interest.

Not to make any profit but really just to share, I'm considering offering a
kit as described below. Assembling this kit would result in four
parametric elements that bolt onto the aluminum dipole described in the
AMSAT article by AA2TX. (article available in a Google share folder; see
link below)

The proposed cost of the kit would be $42.53, shipped via USPS to CONUS. A
list of kit contents and costs is shown below.

If you're interested in this kit, please drop me a note to k7zoo@????.???
If there is sufficient interest, I'll put together a limited number of
kits and ship them out. (It's not my intent to go into the antenna
business, but just to share a bit!)

As an alternate approach: please note there are commercial 3D printing
services from which you can order 3D parts.

Regards,

Curt / K7ZOO

No reason not to ask, although you might well get a lot of answers :-)

I have gotten cable from Shireen and found it to be fine, although if it
matters to you, you should be aware that it is not actually Times Microwave
cable. While it is their own brand, the specs are the same. I have also
gotten cable from MPD Digital, website usacoax.com, who does sell
custom-length and custom-connector Time-Microwave cable of all sizes. Last
time I looked, the prices were not hugely different; both have been
reasonably fast to fulfill, and cables from both seem to be of good
quality; some of Shireen's are still in use after having been outside (in a
PVC pipe) for 7 years or so.

MPD does sell some pre-made cables through Amazon FWIW.

I bought LMR240UF jumpers from h
abrind.com when I started working satellites, and they are still in working
order. It appears they have LMR400UF as well.
