Subj: Adding fx.25 to older tnc's

I was thinking of a process to add fx.25 to older tnc's kams etc.
What my thoughts are is to intercept the data stream between the
modem and the tnc uart. Capture the outgoing ax.25 packet and
reform it with a small faster processor to fx.25 and send. Rx
the incoming ax/fx.25 packets and if ax.25 pass on through or
if fx.25 is received reform back to ax.25 after error correction
and send to cpu or toss if bad. Lots of old tnc's on the 14.105
hf packet network may benefit possibly with less retries on hf
and also may be good for weak vhf links. Any ideas appreciated.
