...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS
OF NORTHERN FLORIDA...
...SUMMARY... A few strong/severe storms will linger across portions
of northern Florida tonight. Primary threats will be locally strong
winds and marginally severe hail.
...01z Update...
Large-scale height fields are expected to change little through
12z with broad, deep-layer southwesterly flow forecast to continue
across the central Gulf Basin through northern FL. As a result,
large-scale forcing for ascent should prove negligible. However,
within this flow regime, higher-moisture air mass, characterized by
PW values of 1.5-2", will persist. While thunderstorms have mostly
moved off the northern FL Peninsula early this evening, scattered
shallow convection trails southwest along the aforementioned moisture
plume where isolated lightning is noted over the northeastern
Gulf. 00z soundings from JAX and TBW do sample this plume well,
though both are adequately buoyant and sufficiently sheared for
possible organization. Several CAMs suggest renewed thunderstorm
development will occur later tonight across the FL Big Bend region
then spread inland. For these reasons will maintain 5% severe probs
for wind/hail.
