CORRECTED TO REMOVE THUNDER FROM DEEP SOUTH TEXAS
...SUMMARY... A few of instances of hail may accompany storms moving
through southern New England this evening. Otherwise, severe storms
are not expected across the remainder of the U.S. mainland tonight.
...New England area...
Elevated thunderstorms developing within corridor of deep ascent
accompanying a vorticity maximum situated within the base of an
upper low will continue through New England this evening. The
00Z RAOB from Chatham MA indicates a layer of 700 J/kg MUCAPE for
parcels lifted from near 800 mb, along with 7 C/km mid level lapse
rates and 35 kt effective layer shear. This environment may support
a few instances of hail until about 02-03Z.
...Eastern TX...
A few thunderstorms with updraft bases rooted near 750 mb are
expected to continue developing tonight within a warm advection
regime.
...Great Basin through the northern Rockies region...
Isolated lightning strikes remain possible across this region into
mid evening. However, coverage is expected to remain sparse.
